Didja hear? According to culture mag Complex, two Philly art institutions have been ranked in the top 50 coolest museums in the world. (!) Yup, campus purveyor of all things rad, the Institute of Contemporary Art (check out their newly redesigned website), and international hotspot, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, were ranked as 48th and 40th coolest in the world. The Mütter Museum, that storehouse for bizarre medical anomalies, came in at number 13! Impressive.

Though we sincerely apologize for the Limp Bizkit reference, we're pleased to present this latest ShutterButton, featuring some of the craftiest architecture students out there. As the story goes, some junior architects-in-training holed up in Addams spotted some Girl Scouts walking by outside the window. After putting in their request for some Samoas, they tied some floss to a shopping bag and sent down their money in exchange for the cookies. It's kind of like a twisted West Philly Rapunzel tale, except lazier. Kids these days!

It was a long, hard– and sometimes oddly entertaining– road, but the journey to the Undergraduate Assembly has ended. Who won?

Let's give a big Ni hao to West Philly's newest BYO: Sang Kee! The BYO status will run every Friday and Saturday starting in April, which places the debutante ball at this 36th and Chestnut noodle house on April 6th. ??, Sang Kee!

Props to SPEC Art Gallery for bringing in Glenn Lowry, the director the Museum of Modern Art in New York! Lowry, who's been the head of MoMA since 1995, will be speaking tonight at 7 in the Terrace Room in Cohen. For those even vaguely interested in art, art history or MoMA, this is (duh) a huge deal. Like, huge, huge deal. Tickets are nearly sold out at this point, but if you're lucky you may still be able to snag one online for $5.

Last Thursday, we started along on our second journey towards determining the ultimate champion of the University of Pennsylvania, a competition so grueling and dizzyingly severe that we had no choice but to call it Penn Madness. 16 competitors battled over the course of five days in 13 battles until we were left with Penn Masala and Kelly Clarkson.

We asked, and you sent! Yup, spring is well upon us, and luckily for the Penn community, some of you have a good eye for spotting how beautiful campus is at this time of year. We've highlighted just a sampling of our favorites (choosing was very hard, mind you) so you can enjoy them as much as we do.

Been enjoying the nice weather, have you? Well, we certainly hope so, since it'll barely get above 60 this week. Frown. But Fling is only 18 days away, and that's pretty disco. This week, we've got DANCING, we've got MUSIC and tons of neato speakers. Check it out! We'll know if you don't.

Penn has spoken, and after a long, grueling journey, only two remain who can capture the hearts of campus: Masala and Kelly Clarkson. Masala, you'll remember, is Penn's superstar South Asian a cappella group; Kelly Clarkson was on TV or something and then ended up in From Justin to Kelly and hasn't been seen since. But she's totally coming for Fling this year. (Have you heard?) We haven't read The Hunger Games, but Penn Madness is probably a lot like that, except with fewer bows and arrows and more death and destruction. So who's got your vote?

Campus is buzzing with the sounds and smells of Spring and it is b-e-a-utiful outside! Look at this vintage pic from March 1989. Look at it! Pretty snazzy, right? If you'd like to get in on the pretty pic action, send us your best photos of Spring on campus and we'll post our favorites later in the week, like last semester. Got it? Cool. You could be a star!

Penn, meet Jake Shuster, current Undergraduate Assembly Treasurer and presidential candidate in the upcoming UA elections. As a freshman Money Booster, Shuster caused some StudGov drama after sending out a mass email encouraging his classmates to vote for him instead of reelecting Jon Youshaei, the freshman class prez. Whew.

March Madness, that college basketball brouhaha, is all the rage out there in the real world. Inside the Penn Bubble, however, the gods and goddesses have spoken, and Penn Madness is upon us. Yes, it's back. Round Two.

Did you hear that Kelly Clarkson is coming to Fling? Haha, just kidding, this year's über popular Fling Friday concert on April 13th will be headlined by Passion Pit and Tiësto. Tickets for the show will go on sale starting tomorrow at 10 a.m. on Locust Walk and online. As per usual, there are two different sections open in Franklin Field during the show– general admission and the floor directly in front of the stage. Here are the deets:

Holly Otterbein over at Philly.com certainly thinks so. In an article today, Otterbein challenges Penn and other Philadelphia nonprofits to step up and channel a portion of their funds back into the city. Back in the '90s, you see, Penn was part of the PILOT program ("payments in lieu of taxes"), in which the city conferred nonprofit statuses on over 40 organizations if they agreed to fork over a portion of what they would owe in property taxes.
