Picture-32

The DP reports:

Two men were arrested after shots were fired near 40th and Walnut streets early Saturday morning.

Police responded to gun shots at about 2 a.m. Saturday. No injuries were reported, according to Philadelphia and Penn police.

Isiah Williams, 22, of the 6500 block of Elmwood Avenue, and Charles McMichael, 19, of the 1500 block of Ringgold Street, were arrested on the 4100 block of Pine Street shortly after the incident, Lt. John Walker of the Philadelphia Police said.

A 22-year-old man from Southwest Philadelphia was the target of the gunfire, Walker said. Police believe the gunfire stemmed from a conflict in Williams' Southwest Philadelphia neighborhood, and the men involved happened to be at the Bridge movie theater at the same time.

Shots were fired at the intended victim, but he was not hit. Police believe that Williams was the shooter, Walker said. McMichael is alleged to have also been present at the incident and carrying a weapon.

"They're obviously going through some conflicts," Walker said. "We're not sure what they're fighting over."

Six .45-caliber cartridges were found at the scene, he said.

A PennComm operator observed the incident via CCTV camera and assisted police in making identifications, Division of Public Safety spokeswoman Stef Cella wrote in an e-mail.

Williams and McMichael both face charges of aggravated assault and various weapons offenses. They are both being held in the Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility after failing to post 10 percent of $75,000 bail each.

McMichael's preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 26. Williams' is set for Aug. 28.
