Finally, Some Relief

After a long, hard-fought battle (consisting of purely bitching and moaning), our prayers to John Gorrie, patron saint of air conditioning, have been answered.

Housing Services announced that they didn't mean it baby, they really do love us! We're getting A/C! Yeah, it'll take a few days for the transformation to be complete, but whatever. We'll take it.

The exciting email after the jump.

Dear Residents,

Housing Services has asked Facilities Services to begin the transition from heat to air conditioning within the College Houses and Sansom Place.  The transition process from heating requires that hot water temperatures in the system first be lowered gradually. Valves are then switched so that chilled water can enter the system, and the water temperatures lowered to produce cold air, which is then circulated in student rooms through a fan coil unit. In College Houses where there is no air conditioning, the water temperature in the system is simply lowered.

It will take a few days for the heating/air conditioning system within the building to reach the proper temperature to supply cool air throughout the building.  This process began on April 6 and may take up to 5-7 days before the building will be fully cooled.   The completion of the transition is tentatively scheduled for April 13, and heat will no longer be available.

We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience during this transition period.  If you have any questions or concerns, please visit your Information Center.

Thank you,

Housing Services Stouffer Commons 3702 Spruce Street Philadelphia, PA 19104 living@exchange.upenn.edu
