Philly Always Finds An Excuse To Party: South Street Bridge Edition

IMG_0308

So while many of you were boozing it up at Penn-Princeton yesterday, there was a rather different kind of tailgate going on at the new and improved South Street bridge. Neighbors brought out their grills, their coolers and their card tables while bridge enthusiasts gathered to take photos and watch the West Powelton Steppers break it down. This soon led to a parade down South Street, led by Cool Dude Mayor Nutter (Penn alum!), who was all waves and smiles as he carried the step team banner to our final destination, a roped off area where we could drink beer outside and listen to live music. Awesome. More photos of the festivities after the jump!

UTB approaches the scene with curiosity and excitement. Check out that bike taxi!

Even the view is nicer on the new bridge!

Because when else are you going to get to play cards in the middle of a major street? We think there was a major Apples to Apples opportunity missed here, but whatever, that's just us.

This is not the first time we have been convinced we have what it takes to join a drill team, and it definitely won't be the last. But seriously though, these guys ruled.

So many people sharing the roads, just like that wise yellow giant suggested.

It's the mayor! Don't you just want to be friends with him?
