Just Like Riding A Bike (But Better)

Screen-shot-2011-04-27-at-11.48.15-AM

World, meet ALPHA: a bike that is so high-tech and fancy pants we practically expect it to have a personality. Since its completion just a couple weeks ago, it's been picked up by Wired magazine (among others), and Core77 called it "Possibly the Most High-Tech Bicycle Ever." And oh, yeah! It was built by Penn students!

Over the past year, MEAM Seniors Geoff Johnson, Lucas Hartman, Katie Savarise, Evan Dvorak and Katie Rohacz have been working to create the first bicycle with a fully internal drivetrain, and the result is just about the coolest bike we've ever seen–not to mention 1st place winner at the 2011 SEAS Senior Design Competition on Friday. For more pictures and details on all of ALPHA's other features, check out their website here.
