Shh, It's A Secret Cinema

Because you like old movies. Because you still reminisce on that one time you spent the night in a museum as a budding young brownie/cub scout. Because free things are the shit.

These are all reasons to check out this year's Film Series, presented by Secret Cinema and being held at the Penn Museum. The series, which begins tomorrow and runs through January, involves a monthly screening of old school (circa 1920's and 1930's) films that tie in thematically with current museum exhibits. The film being shown tomorrow is The Mummy (no, not this one), which supplements the Egypt (mummies) Gallery. Did we mention it's free (with your Penncard)? And there are mummies? Like ones that aren't your little brother wrapped in five rolls of single ply?

But wait! There's more! In case you forgot (or don't care enough to look), the add/drop date is fast approaching. Since we really can't stop talking about mummies, here' s a list of open classes we think are kind of interesting and would involve at least one mention of the word throughout the semester:

  • ANTH-001: Intro to Archaeology
  • ANTH-190: Introduction to Africa
  • ANTH-258: Visualizing the Past
  • CHEM-245: Experimental Organic Chemistry I (future embalmers of the world, this is for you)
  • CLST-111: Introduction to Mediterranean Archaeology
  • CLST-303: Introduction to Museums
  • HIST-024: Middle Eastern Civilizations
  • NELC 068: Art and Architecture in Ancient Egypt
  • NELC 139: Modern Egypt
  • NELC 266: History of Ancient Egypt
Grab some popcorn, a Wawa soda (filled with drink of questionable origin and alcoholic content) and your best natron. From one mummy to another: wopeidhpofhperrrrrgh!
