This vintage pic from 1943, courtesy of the University Archives, shows Dr. Sadie Alexander with her husband Raymond her children, Rae Pace and Mary Elizabeth. Dr. Alexander was the first African-American woman to receive a Ph.D. (which she got in economics) and was later the first African-American woman to enroll in Penn's Law School. But, just– Aww!
