Penn Class Puts Convention In Unconventional

The most exciting part of 2012 has passed, but it’s a busy year, and we all still have the election ahead of us (freshmen elections and otherwise).  While most of us are busy sharpening our pencils and only watching the election coverage from our TVs and Twitter feeds, one lucky class at Penn has been granted an inside look at the Republican and Democratic conventions.

The Philly Inquirer recently detailed Professor David Eisenhower’s “Conventions, Debates, Campaigns” class.  Each student attends one of the conventions, meets with important political types, and spends the semester discussing his or her findings with the class and the Daily News.  And the 2008 kiddos even appeared on Chris Matthews’ “Hardball.”  That class with the already-cancelled Thanksgiving Week lecture doesn’t seem so special now, huh?  While it’s clearly too late to vie for a spot this semester, any freshmen planning to become super seniors can go ahead and add it to their Fall 2016 mock schedules.
