What's HapPENNing?

Good news guys -- this week we get to celebrate the most recent iteration of Friday the 13th AND Valentine's Day! It's a bit of a grim double-header, especially given the fact that it's fucking dark and cold outside all of the time. But perhaps this week's coterie of fun events will warm even the iciest of hearts:

MondayAI?'s Spring Blood Drive. There's almost always a blood drive going on at Penn, but given that it's nearly Valentine's it seems like a great opportunity to give a gift that TRULY counts.

If you're feeling woozy from the blood loss, a fun thing to do might be to whisk off to Smokey Joe's to see the band USS Mars as they take to Kweder's hallowed stage with a vengeance. They're promising both original tracks as well as some classic covers -- Smoke's on a Monday, anyone?

Tuesday: There seems to be a bit of "An Evening With Howard Dean" in the works for Tuesday. Although it seems unlikely you'd get to spend the night with him in the physical sense, this event seems like a cool opportunity to listen to the former governor of Vermont, former chairman of the Democratic National Committee, and a former presidential candidate spout some wisdom.

There's also Vagina Monologues Quizzo at Tap House!

Wednesday: Head on down to an event at the ICA for some facetime with artist, naturalist and illustrator Lord Whimsy that promises "a vintage spiritualist evening of botanical adventures and nineteenth-century dandyism." It's really a can't-miss opportunity to find out what that could possibly mean.

Thursday: Is there anything better suited to a Thursday than learning about Taiwan and eating Shake Shack? Taiwanese Representative to the United States (and known Penn alum!) Shen Lyu-shun is coming to speak with Penn kids about Taiwanese-Chinese-US relations over burgers & shakes

Friday: It's Friday the 13th, so be sure to avoid any and all black cats or shattered mirrors as you take to the Rotunda to see Jazz & Grooves presents: Goldlink, Rome Fortune, Kari Faux, and Liberal Arts

The Weekend: Thursday-Saturday, make your way to the Harrison SkyLounge for the Front Row Theatre Company's performance of "Venus in Fur!" It seems to be a rather sensual performance, and could be a great way to make this weekend of love even hotter.
