This Is Where You Should Be Tonight

(09/10/09 4:12pm)

Get your brain back in gear and head to the ICA tonight for the opening of their fall shows (6-8 pm, 36th and Sansom). Dance with Camera kicks off in the first floor galleries, presenting an array of dance and movement pieces that were designed with the camera-as-audience in mind. Curator Jenelle Porter has also organized a semester long series of screenings of some seminal dance films just down the street at International House.

Slaughterhouse At The Writers House

(04/02/09 11:44pm)

Join the Kelly Writer House tomorrow for their annual marathon reading, starting at 3:00 p.m. and going until...(who knows when?) Attendees will have the chance to read aloud for ten minutes from Kurt Vonnegut's Slaughterhouse Five, until the book is finished.  Past years have featured Nabokov's Lolita and Kerouac's On the Road.  The event will be accompanied by a lavish themed reception -- so stop by to listen and eat and maybe even read a little!

Penn Alum Shouted Out By Obama

(02/26/09 3:30pm)

In Obama's "not-the-State-of-the-Union" State of the Union, he name-dropped Wharton alum Leonard Abess (father of Matt Abess, C '08) as an example of a selfless and responsible member of the finance industry. Abess distributed bonuses to past and current employees of Miami's City National Bank based on years of service to the company.  Some received up to $100,000. You may have caught a glimpse of Abess last night, seated with First Lady Michelle Obama in her private box. Quothbama:
