It's The Speedy Time of Year...

(04/22/13 8:05pm)

Penn Relays is upon us once again! And if you didn't think Franklin Field was happening during the Fling concert, come to any of the events by Saturday (a full schedule can be found here). We know finals are right around the corner, but fuel your procrastination by watching athletes from all over the country and world compete in America's oldest track and field meet. NBC is even showing Penn some love this time and will be airing the Relays live on Saturday from 1-3 PM. But since you're here, you might as well run down to Franklin to witness all the action...and then maybe run back up to Pottruck if you're feeling especially inspired.

Flyer Of The Week: Bar Crawl '13

(04/12/13 6:00pm)

In spirit of Fling 2K13, this week's winner gives you the lowdown on how to get flung without completely emptying out your wallet. Brought to you courtesy of Global Brigades, enjoy drink and food specials at various bars with the purchase of a $10 wristband. We like this flyer especially for giving us the facts, straight and simple. So go out there and and crawl to support medical relief in Nicaragua!

Little Baby's Ice Cream Shop To Open Second Location

(03/12/13 10:52pm)

Little Baby's Ice Cream is set to expand beyond its first location on Frankford Avenue with plans to open a new store at 4903 Catherine St. (basically 49th and Baltimore, guys). The ice cream shop, known for its strange flavors ranging from Red Bean Rice Crisps to Balsamic Banana, has also gained some attention for the above commercial featuring a dude covered in ice cream, slowly licking some more ice cream...(we don't really get it either). In any case, this ice cream shop makes a great addition to the Cedar Park area, so be sure to check it out! One lick and "you'll wink and nod and hug and high five each other with great enthusiasm"

More Penn Rankings

(02/21/13 4:59pm)

In this week's edition of arbitrary rankings, Penn made it to the #2 spot of Schools with the Wealthiest Alumni. As if there weren't enough rankings out there to make us feel great (Highest Salaries upon Graduation, 16th in the World) and terrible (#2 Most Stressful College, Tied for #8), here's another one to add to the mix.

(02/18/13 5:45pm)

Penny Wars -- If you're a Penngineer, don't forget to drop off pennies into your major's container or any money but pennies into other majors' containers by this Wednesday in the Levine Lobby. What's better than a chance to sabotage your peers while still raising money for a great cause? Find out more about Alex's Lemonade Stand here.

Hutchinson Gym On The Way

(02/11/13 5:25pm)

By Fall 0f 2013, it won't take you a couple hours to jump into a pickup basketball game on campus. Hutchinson Gym's renovations are in the middle stages of completion, since initial work began over the past summer. Some of the renovations include a training room for fencing, rowing tanks in the basement, and even air conditioning (revolutionary!). You can check out more pictures of the progress and even some final renderings with ghostly silhouettes of athletes that really show off what's going to be Hutch 2.0.

ShutterButton: Eisenlohr Hall

(02/06/13 3:55pm)

You probably couldn't tell from its old name, but you definitely should have been able to recognize A-Gutt's current crib from the picture. Originally built in 1910 for Otto and Josephine Eisenlohr, the owners of Cinco and Henrietta cigars, this Beaux Arts-style mansion housed the Graduate School of Education for a while before finally becoming the home for Penn presidents. 10 bucks to anyone who documents Amy smoking a cigar.
