Sometimes SPEC knows the way to our hearts, like for example when they announce that JOSEPH GORDON-LEVITT is coming to this university. Indeed, it's true! The star of Inception and 500 Days of Summer will be at Penn on November 17.

Word has it the taco guys are performing a much needed coup de late night eating. Good late night grub, particularly on weekdays, is particularly weak, aside from that one time a mysterious truck called Gibbs Tailored Ribbs showed up outside Blarney. To remedy this, Coup de Taco is jumping on the late night bandwagon and will be open tonight from 12 - 2, presumably to cash in on the (drunk) post-Smoke's crowd. No word yet on whether this will be a recurring feature.

You read it here first! Michelle Obama will speak at a rally in Wynn Commons on Monday evening! The President of the Penn Democrats Emma Ellman-Golan has confirmed that the event is "100% on." The first lady will speak at 8 p.m., with doors opening around 5:30 for secret service clearance.

We didn't say it was going to happen! But it might. Students in Governor Ed Rendell's class say he mentioned the Dems were "considering sending Michelle Obama to campus next Monday," in anticipation of the Tuesday elections. Rendell apparently also mentioned the Palestra as a potential spot, should she come, similar to when Hillary Clinton came to rally for Barack Obama in 2008.

It's a bad thing when the air conditioning breaks. It's a really bad thing when the air conditioning breaks in Commons. We went in this morning to bursar a hot coffee from Starbucks, but after almost fainting in line, we settled for iced coffee. Unless you're looking to spend your afternoon in a steam room, steer clear of Commons.

Penn's Counterparts group was on the BBC yesterday, and we are so confused. So, basically the story/video seems like it's about "real-life" college kids who are in a Glee Club, because, yay everybody loves Glee. But then, it's actually about they're all Democrats and everybody loves Obama? They sing "Don't Stop Believin'" in the background, but that is quite literally the only parallel made between the McKinley high school Glee Club and the Counterparts. I mean, who woulda thought! An acapella group on an Ivy League campus, having voted for Obama!

Smash a car – right on College Green! In an apparent turn against the traditional (and innocent) kickball/dance party fundraiser, ZBT is hosting a "car smash" charity event on Friday? According to the Facebook event, a hit with a mallet or metal bat will cost a dollar. Or, get this, you can splurge on a sledge hammer hit for 3 bucks. The proceeds are going to a non-profit that benefits education in developing countries, because what says "let's help the third world" like beating on a car with mallets and sledgehammers?

Down 2-3 against the San Franciscio Giants, the Phillies will try to make a comeback tonight in Game 6 of the National League championship series. And now for a bit of history: we dug up this 1993 photo from the University Archives - check out how green the Ben statue used to be! In '93, the Phillies beat the Atlanta Braves in the National Championship, but lost to the Toronto Blue Jays in the World Series.

For reasons we cannot understand or explain, there is a line out the door to get into Beijing. For lunch. What gives?

Perhaps this is old news for some of you, but...that Wednesday farmer's market right by the bookstore on 36th and Walnut accepts PennCash and Dining Dollars. Sorry if you already knew this. If you didn't, how awesome right? I just purchased some apples and a loaf of bread. That is all.

After two years of construction on the South Street Bridge, it will no longer take 45 minutes to get downtown come November 6! Yes, the South Street Bridge is reopening! The bridge allows cars to drive from right by the Penn Museum/HUP, across the river, and to 27th and South Street.

It's that time of year again, folks. A tipster sends us this photo of Mr. Franklin adorned in yellow and blue on Sunday. Anyone know who's behind the makeover?

Do you, like us, sometimes wander aimlessly through the Penn Bookstore, and happen upon really weird shit? Our friends were doing so today, and found these "Acid Washed Denim Leggings," which can be yours for a cool $12.98!

After a brief stint being entirely slathered in an Entourage-themed paint job (or was it a sticker?), Coup de Taco has stripped if off. And now, instead of being the snazziest truck on campus, it looks like one of the most down and out. We stopped by the truck today, where they told us the promo was over. Despite looking a little grubby, the tacos were good as ever. We're thinking they'll be working on a paint job soon.

Gather your tight skirts and fake ID's, denizens of the downtown scene...Denim Thursdays are back?!

And today, in Reasons Old People Shouldn't Write Articles About College: let's talk about this Philly mag blog post entitled "Can Penn Students Have Fun?" In an utterly useless and out-of-touch attack on Penn, Sandy Hingston rants on and on about Penn students' low attendance at football games and tailgates. Ohhh, Sandy, allow us to explain.

On our walk downtown today, we stopped by Biba, which is set to open on Friday. We also took a quick peek of the snazzy inside. Check it out after the jump.

Biba, the wine bar that was supposed to open a while ago in the Left Bank on 31st and Walnut, is finally opening on Friday, October 8. Friday coincides with the opening of Baby Blues BBQ on Sansom, and is also the first day of Fall Break. Guess our appetites will have to wait.

Happy Monday, friends and foes. We're back with a new installment of Chasing Amy, in which we lightly (but not creepily) stalk President Amy Gutmann's personal and professional (but mostly personal) life.
