What's HapPENNing?

(04/04/11 2:00pm)

Four more weeks of class and then the year is over! Although this does mean that the vast majority of us will soon be separated from Dear Old Penn, we do have something to look forward to at the end of next week: Spring Fling! So put on a smile for us. Can you do that? No? Fine, be that way. But at least go to some of the awesome events on campus this week.

(03/30/11 11:58pm)

TD Bank has just been robbed – Although the police showed up immediately and got control over the scene at 37th and Walnut, witnesses say that a robber absconded with around $500. Keep checking back as we update with more information. Update: The robber is now in custody. Check out the DP article here.

Okay, you can all start making Penn15 jokes now – Regular decision applicants for the Class of 2015 find out their admission status today at 5 p.m. Here's to Penn's best and brightest class in the history of the school (until next year)!

....And Then Things Got A Little Weird

(03/29/11 11:46pm)

With election season in full swing, it's no surprise that tensions are running high amongst candidates. Thankfully, perennial stud-gov celeb Jake Shuster and n00b Kate Ham have both taken the "I'm-gonna-make-you-laugh-uncomfortably" road when it comes to campaigning to get us into the voting spirit. We prefer Jake's bold lack of pants over Kate's unfortunate pun. What do you think? [poll id="23"]

Blackboard Is Down... again – It seems like our favorite site has been down for many users for about three hours. No idea when it'll be back up, but in the meantime, we hear that smacking your computer screen is pretty effective. Update: Here's an email we received from Blackboard Support– "Blackboard is experiencing intermittent access problems. Support  staff are aware of the problem and working to resolve it as soon as  possible. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause."

What's HapPENNing?

(03/28/11 2:00pm)

Wait, what happened to March?! April showers are starting to roll on through as this month leaves as rudely as it arrived. (Seriously, you can't tease us with a few warm days like that.) As we apply for last-minute internships, the seniors begin their death march toward entering the real world. Sorry, 2011'ers! Anyway, what's going down at Penn this week?

Got Questions For The UA Candidates?

(03/26/11 11:26pm)

The UA is holding Presidential and Vice Presidential debates tomorrow at 2 p.m. in Huntsman F45. It's actually kind of a big deal, considering that the UA, you know, does stuff. This is your chance to ask the candidates any burning questions you may have. If you can't make it but would still like to participate, leave your questions in the comments or tweet at us tomorrow!

Penn Madness FINAL ROUND! Polls Have Opened!

(03/24/11 2:00pm)

The Final Round: It's Here. Capital Letters. Exclamation Points. This. We've seen heroes rise, empires fall and egos deflate. Now, we're left with just two: Amy Gutmann, eighth President of the University of Pennsylvania, and the Late Night, a study spot in the basement of Commons. We foresaw Amy's rise from the very beginning, but the Late Night conquered many against all odds and has made it to the very end. Who will win? It's up to you! The fate of the universe is in your hands...after the jump. [poll id="22"]

Polls Are Open For Penn Madness Round 3!

(03/22/11 2:00pm)

As we reach the Penn-ultimate (Teehee!) round of Penn Madness, the Final Four emerges. With Amy Gutmann up against Hoodie Allen and the indefatigable Penn rain boots stompin' on out against the Late Night, we're really not sure who will win. Of a few things, however, we are certain: Bones will be crushed. Hearts will be broken. Champions will be crowned. And rain boots will be sold out of the bookstore. Vote after the jump!   [poll id="20"] [poll id="21"]

Life In The Real World: Still Scary

(03/20/11 3:07pm)

Match Day came and went this past week for Penn's medical students. What's that, you ask? Why, it's the day a big, scary computer decides the fate of med school students by announcing where they'll be spending their residencies! It's kinda like the Sorting Hat in Harry Potter, but hard and metal and bleeps and bloops instead of talking. Ah, to be a med student! One editor described Match Day as a drunken "bid day for med school." Here's what to look forward to, premeds!

Shock! Major Upsets! Surprises! Penn Madness Round Two: POLLS ARE OPEN

(03/19/11 2:00pm)

Penn Madness is underway! During the first round, we put Penn's fiercest competitors against each other in a brawl to the death (?) and only half came out victorious: Sweetgreen, Penn rainboots, Amy Gutmann, the smell inside Gia Pronto, Tyson's Bees, Hoodie Allen and The Late Night. The disappearance of the Button had an overwhelming victory over the caravan of the apocalypse, but seeing as it has made a nice recovery and is back on campus, a new contestant has emerged: THE GATES OF HELL! Who will conquer in this round? Vote for your favorite after the jump!

Party Foul

(03/17/11 7:19pm)

Some miscreant spilled beer all over Williams today, causing hordes of students to flock to one side of the hallway and eye the brew longingly. The entire second floor (actually the ground floor, because whoever designed Williams was clearly good at counting) smelled. Happy St. Patrick's Day, and may your cup runneth over! (Just not onto the floor.)

Penn InTouching Your iPhone

(03/17/11 2:00pm)

As Penn News reports, Penn InTouch is now available for your wireless, handheld communication device! The nifty app, which can be downloaded here, has many of the features of the full website version of Penn InTouch, including a course search and a list of important dates. While it does have some restrictions, such as the ability to register and drop classes, it's still the same Penn InTouch you've grown to love/hate/become frustrated with because it shuts down every five minutes.

Penn Does March Madness

(03/16/11 8:52pm)

March is well upon us, and while for many this means the start of March Madness season, for others it's a time to pretend to be a fan of basketball and pick your favorite team based on uniform colors. But we can all agree that we shouldn't restrict this competitive spirit to college basketball, and, well, brackets are pretty fun. Presenting: Penn Madness! We've made a bracket featuring our favorite (and smelliest?) Penn celebs and hotspots, and winners will be chosen based on the results of your votes in polls that will appear throughout the week. Get it? Awesome. Check out the contestants team predictions after the jump!
