Commence THIS

(05/11/10 12:34pm)

We at Under the Button have gotten some good intel this year, including word that Jon Huntsman would be commencement speaker back in July. We were pretty pleased with ourselves, especially since it wasn't confirmed until February. Now we're here to break down the rest of the graduation speakers. (Side note: What's with the serious lack of estrogen?)

Life, Liberty And The Pursuit Of Matzo(s)

(03/31/10 2:04pm)

There are just too many jokes to be made about this sign. You know, the one about matzo being plural (substitute "breads" and you'll see what we mean)... the one about the restaurant's love of bizarre phrasing... the one about how of course JAP hotspot Gia Pronto has matzo/matzoh/matza/matzah available. Though let's be real: seeded rolls are too carb-y for post-Pulco/pre-Fling dieters anyway.

Penn's Got Style

(01/06/10 11:09pm)

Old school Penn pics are the BEST, especially when they show us just how cool people used to be. Well, it looks like Scott Schuman (also known as the Sartorialist) digs these photos, too. This weekend our favorite style blogger posted some pictures that looked pretty familiar. We're not entirely sure, but this totally looks like the Quad, right?

You Won't Have Another Final For At Least 130 More Days

(12/22/09 10:00pm)

Congratulations on surviving finals week, dear readers. For now, we leave you with some pictures of Penn at its snowiest to tide you over until you're back on campus (classes officially begin January 13, lest you forget). Thanks to DP photo editors Pete Lodato and Maanvi Singh for the Quad snowball fight pics, and to tipster Dave Dobkin for the ones of campus looking all pretty.

Fly Away Home

(12/19/09 8:54pm)

Contrary to popular belief, not all Penn students can get home via train/car/bus. Some people are from LA! And Miami! These unlucky souls have to fly home. But we here at UTB want to make sure your flight home is as pleasant as possible, despite crazy lines and awful delays.

Huntsman Provides Coffee, Silence

(12/12/09 7:02pm)

And the finals perks just keep rolling in! Yesterday Wharton kids got an email detailing how Huntsman is doing their part to make sure you stay caffeinated in quiet rooms. What you need to know: Au Bon Pain will stay open until midnight Monday through Thursday, and next Saturday too. Free coffee will be provided on those nights, from 8 p.m. until midnight. Certain rooms are being made into quiet study rooms between the hours of 8 a.m. and 11:45 p.m. (JMHH 245, 250, 255 and 260 on 12/11-12/13, 12/17 and 12/20-12/22; JMHH 240, 245, 250 and 255 on 12/16; JMHH 350, 355, 360 and 365 on 12/14, 12/18 and 12/19). And, as usual, only Wharton students can book their own private study rooms in Huntsman. LAME.

An Important UTB PSA

(12/12/09 5:10pm)

Well guys, it has been quite a semester over here at UTB. We've kept tabs on elections and squirrels and the Button. We've made sure you know about fro-yo and coffee and tacos. We even taught you how to find a little love on this big campus of ours. And we have our fantastic fall UTB editors, Charlotte Borgen and Ben Rosen, to thank for all that and more.
