This comes to us via Deadspin. Maybe these footballers were feeling pumped after this week's good news. Or maybe they just really wanted to bare their midriffs. Unclear. But our two favorite parts of this photo are the old dude's bling and the stank face on the third kid from the left.

We hate DRL. The place pretty much has zero redeeming qualities. Well, until now. A tipster informs us that the untitled James L. Brooks movie (yeah, the one starring Reese Witherspoon, Paul Rudd and Owen Wilson) will be filming at DRL on Monday. This is better than when they went to Marathon!

Penn students take their food oh-so-seriously. As such, we've compiled a list (and made a fancy schmancy map!) of the new additions to West Philly's culinary delights. Check out the breakdown after the jump.

Somewhat akin to PennPorn, Derek Walters's "Drunk History Vol. 2" stars Jack Black as Penn's beloved Ben Franklin and Dale from Greek as his son, William. Yeah, we just can't get enough of B-Frank. Plus, this is totally the kind of conversation we would have had with that drunk kid in the Quad who vomited all over our hall freshman year.

Perhaps, in these last few weeks of summer, you are on a boat. Or maybe not. Either way, we are so upset we didn't stumble upon this sooner. Yes, this is a video of Penn med students on a boat during an ASB trip to Guatemala. And yes, America, these are this country's finest doctors-in-training.

Move over, Mad4: looks like there's a new chica in town. Jose Garces's University City outpost Distrito is opening a new student-friendly Cantina that will replace their first floor dining space this fall.

This week Philly Weekly profiled legal studies professor Kevin Werbach. Among his many impressive labels — Harvard Law grad, Obama adviser, tech firm founder — one stands as nerdier than the rest: World of Warcraft impresario.

We've mourned the death of Transit and tweeted about the alleged Level closing. So where, oh where, will NSO revelers...revel? Not at Lounge 125, as that has apparently also closed. But there's word that a new club is taking up residence in their Old City space. The precociously named Recess is set to open on September 12th, which makes us wonder if any of Penn's enterprising young promoters will try to secure it for an NSO soft launch.

As NSO rapidly approaches (three weeks, kids), we at UTB have taken it upon ourselves to mine the depths of Facebook and see how we can keep ourselves occupied until then. Thankfully, we have come across a few gems. Enjoy.

Not content with a simple "thank you," the Penn Fund pulled out all the stops and recorded a YouTube video (on a Flip cam!) which was emailed out to all of the alums who donated this year. According to Penn Fund exec board chair Brett Barth, they received 25,926 gifts totaling over $22.5 million... mere drops in the $440 million bucket. (We do know at least one guy who didn't donate though.)

Despite rumors to the contrary, the fire above University Pinball was caused by the apartment's electrical wiring system. No word yet on how extensive the damage is, but it sounds like University Pinball wasn't directly affected. So... that's a relief.

As one of Penn's most illustrious profs, David Eisenhower is known for more than being President Eisenhower's grandson who married Nixon's daughter around these parts. He is the beloved professor who teaches "Communication and the Presidency" and who escorts bright-eyed COMPS students to national conventions. He is also a senior fellow at the Foreign Policy Research Institute, the director of the Institute for Public Service at Penn, a member of the editorial board for the Presidential Studies Quarterly and a New York Times bestselling author. Impressive.

Ever since the economy went all wack, Prez A-Gut has been sending out periodic campus-wide emails reassuring students that Penn is doing a-okay. Last week we learned that we're rolling in the dough, and today A-Gut provided us with some more facts and figures. The takeaways:

First Ben went missing, and now this. Tipster Faizan sent in this picture of the spot where Robert Indiana's LOVE Statue once stood. But where will cheesy couples take their profile pictures now? Fear not, we hear it's just getting refurbished and will be back soon.

Details are still coming in, but here's what we know: a fire broke out around midnight above University Pinball at 4008 Spruce. We hear a drunk student may be to blame, and that both Spruce and 41st Streets are closed in that immediate area. A tipster sent us the photo to the right. Know more info? Hit us up.

This is your midday Penn-in-the-news roundup. Because we love reading about ourselves.
Penn alums Stacey Bendet C'99, Tory Burch C'88 and Aerin Lauder C'91 made Vanity Fair's 2009 International Best-Dressed List. Other Ivy League notables include former Chicago-area lawyers Michelle Obama of Princeton and Barack Obama of Columbia. [Vanity Fair]
Education prof Robert Zemsky is publishing a book in which he argues that college degrees should take three years to complete. This would make your parents $45,000 richer and Smoke's 95% less crowded. [The Choice]
A creepy Penn grad student proposed to some chick in court...while he was on trial for stalking her. City Paper used the pseudonym "Amy" to refer to the alleged victim, which made us giggle inappropriately. [City Paper]

Yesterday morning Scott McGann tried to board a United Airlines flight bound for Chicago at New York's LaGuardia Airport...with a fake bomb in his bag. McGann, who officials say was "highly intoxicated," was immediately arrested and ordered to receive a psychiatric evaluation.
