You bolt upright in bed, your body and sheets soaked in sweat.
Jeff from Writing Sem, your husband of 14 years, is alert beside you. He pats your shoulder. “Amy Gutmann again, huh?” he asks you, the gentle tenor of his voice as soothing as a lullaby.
“Yeah,” you breath, your eyes staring blankly at the sheets in front of you. From the other room, you hear your daughter crying, awoken by your shriek.
“I’ll get that,” says Jeff. “You just try to get back to bed, okay? It was just another crazy dream.”
“Yeah,” you whisper, “okay.”
