Thinking quickly, you step behind a tree to avoid capture.

"Huh? Where'd that puny Poindexter go?" Thad shouted, surveying the courtyard. "Ah, screw it, this is taking too long, and I've got a bullying appointment at 2 with Billy!"

With that, Thad stomps out of the courtyard, finally leaving you all alone. Or so you think.

"Hey," a raspy voice calls out from the adjacent tree. "What're you up to?"

You turn and find yourself face-to-face with an... emo kid? Goth? Maybe he's just sleep-deprived? You can't quite tell.

"Oh, I was just on my way to the band room to listen to The Fray and cry my heart out," you admit with a sigh to your strange-looking acquaintance.

"Haha, I know what that's like!" the kid responds with a chuckle. "But, seriously, dude. The Fray?"

"What do you mean?"

"Here," the kid says, handing you an ear bud. "Try this on for size."

You take the earbud and close your eyes. "Paranoid Android" by Radiohead begins to play, and you are immediately sucked into a swirling vortex of raw emotion. The warbling voice of Thom Yorke transports you to a visceral world, far away from the likes of Thad.

"This is it," you think to yourself. "This music totally gets me."

Your life fundamentally altered for the better, you thank the emo kid and in a stroke of clarity delete all songs by The Fray off your iPod. You end up listening to OK Computer until the bell rings for sixth period. Talk about an improvement!

~ GOOD END ~
