Come one come all to the semester's first issue of Street! We know you've been waiting oh so patiently so without further adieu...
Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes. It's that time of the year again. The glorious time when Penn students snicker at passersby and point at those shouted out. So count the penis jokes, the peeing puns and the creepy professor come–ons. It's SHOUTOUT time. Looking for just the Shoutouts? You'll have to wait until later to read them online, or just pick up the magazine instead.
Hoorah! The world is flung! But we at Street still have some weekly words we'd like to share with you. Like how to win FLINGO (like BINGO, duhhhh!).
The time has come to release the winners (and obvious losers) of Street's annual Best of Penn! Some were obvious, some were sneaky deaky winners but our gold medalists are certainly deserving.
As per usual you can send your shoutouts to shoutouts@34st.com but you can also just peruse up to the top right corner of this page and submit your shoutouts in that pretty lil' box.
This week Street takes a peak into the lives of the self–made. Ever heard of PennEats? MeepMe? MobileEatz? Well these are the kids who started it all... and not just for the money.
Street's back with a vengeance this week after a Wednesday spent shopping around Philly. And boy are we pooped. But pick up an issue today to learn all about a side of Penn you probably didn't know existed: student sex workers.
We know what you're thinking. What is this so–called "Shopping Guide?" Did this hapen last year? But there are no cool stores in Philly! Wah, wah, wah. Pout, pout, pout.
After a rowdy week in Punta Cana, Puerto Vallerta and New Orleans, Street is back to brighten your St. Patrick's Day. This week the feature delves into the depths of one of Penn's favorite bars, the Blarney Stone. The owner, Kevin Kearney dishes the dirt on the Irish pub. Our Ego of the Week, Siobhan Carey (it's pronounced SHA–VON), gives a lesson in Irish step dancing. And to top it off, there's even a recipe on how to make some intoxicating Guinness chocolate cupcakes.
Oscar Mania — Worried that you won't be witty enough to entertain your friends during tonight's Oscar telecast? Check out Street's liveblog and feel free to re-appropriate our commentary. Snark along with us by commenting on the feed starting at 7 PM.
In case you haven't gotten your (daily? weekly? monthly? annual?) dose of pleasure reading, Street's here to bring you... FICTION! We loved last year's fiction issue so much, we came back for seconds. This year's winner features a jaded investment banker in New York (Whartonites, you listening?) in the midst of a semi–breakdown. We're intrigued.
We're baaaaaacckkkk!! But not in a creepy way — more like in a "Ha! we fooled you and printed not one, but TWO issues this week! So suck it." Yeah. That kind of way. But don't worry, we've got plenty in store for you in case you missed yesterday's drool–inducing Dining Guide.
There's no doubt about it. Philly is known for its grub. Cheesesteaks, Lorenzo's, Italian ices. This town has it all.
Because Ecards are better than V-cards. But seriously.
Penn kids are smart and all, but can they articulate their feelings through cheesy text and low-grade animation? Probably not. Enter Street's first annual Valentine's Day E-card collection (!), because sometimes the internet just says how you feel better than you ever could. Especially when how you feel involves romantic silhouettes, smooth jazz, and/or sparkles.
Street takes you on a journey this week back to the far away land of the artistic. Check out the feature–length look at Penn Student Design (a perfect example of people who get paid to do what they love... jealous).
In case you missed all the fun we had to bring you this week online, Street's back in print to share some words of wisdom... kinda.
Street's back to brighten your not–a–snow–day (womp womp) with gossip, gossip, gossip — oh and some other cool things too. You know, like a new website! Yup. Uh–huh. It's finally happened. Street went 2.0. It looks gawgeous if we do say so ourselves. But seriously — check it out. There are new graphics, flash whatsits and whozits galore. Bored today? Good thing it'll be updated tomorrow.
After a long, depressing break, Street is finally back with a whole new staff and slew of arts and culture. Mhm girl, it's been a big week.
Times are tough these days. Breadlines are longer than ever and even though shantytowns are where all the rebels hang out, we're really missing four walls and a roof. Damn. Anywho, this week Street attempts to brighten your day and show you the joys of this depressing life! Deal or New Deal?
