2013 Drama: Class Presidents Endorse Shuster

(03/25/10 6:07pm)

If you haven't heard, there's a wee bit of drama concerning the Class of 2013 Board elections. In short: the class VP of Finance, Jake Shuster "The Money Booster" decided to run against the incumbent Jonathan Youshaei, who Shuster thinks didn't do a great job as prez. There was some email banter, and everyone was all, who do we endorse?! Some board members apparently said Youshaei was trying to get them to support him, and then there was apparently some form of peace treaty conference with the presidents of the older classes. Oh, politics. ANYWAY, Arthur Gardner Smith, Adam Behrens and Jibran Khan, the presidents of 2010, 2011 and 2012, respectively, announced that they're endorsing Shuster. Scandalous? Check out their endorsement of the Money Booster after the jump.

The plan is to have around 25 teas from around the world, as well as fresh juices, sandwiches and such. And coffee too. It's hoping to open on March 29, so we'll be checking it out soon.

Secret Penn Facts: Hill House Edition

(03/18/10 3:15pm)

Via Hill College House's Wikipedia page, we dug up this gem of a fact: "In common with other buildings constructed at the height of the Cold War, the basement of Hill contains a fallout shelter, which links to the University's utility tunnels." According to a 1996 DP article, "The Geology Department has used it for rock storage, Hill residents have filled it with personal belongings and several escaped pets reportedly call the tunnel home." Charming.

Public Figures, They're Just Like Us: Harold Ford Jr. Wrote Op-Eds In College

(03/03/10 9:06pm)

As you may have heard, Penn grad Harold Ford Jr. isn't running for New York Senate. But before Ford was broadcasting his thoughts on the New York Times Opinion page, he was doing it in the Daily Pennsylvanian. And thanks to excellent archiving, we have two Op-Eds for your enjoyment. (We know the New York Daily News wrote about this a while back, but they didn't share the goods.)
