Chew On This

Now that JuicyCampus is but a mere memory, everyone needs a new way to put off doing homework. Sure, you could play that game where you stare at someone in Van Pelt until they look up and make eye contact with you, followed by the awkward look-look away-look-look away scenario, but that gets old really fast.

Funny, essentially worthless websites are really your best bet, which is why Ruminations has replaced JuicyCampus on my FireFox bookmark bar.

Created by Penn grad/stand up comedian Aaron Karo, Ruminations is a site where people, well, ruminate. Members send in snippets of stuff that they’re thinking about, which of course has the potential for disastrously lame “isn’t it weird how water isn’t actually blue” type of posts.

However, most people on the site ruminate quite well, bringing up thoughts so delightfully universal that they will make you exclaim “THAT’S SO TRUE” out loud.

For example, nothing could make me happier than knowing that someone else in the world feels the same way I do about driving on the highway: “Is it strange that I feel a little sad when I've been on the freeway for 80+ miles and have to exit at the rest stop and leave my ‘team’ of other drivers?” THAT’S SO TRUE, right?

Here’s another keeper: “If you want a self image booster go through your profile pictures. If you want a reality check go through the rest of your photos.” Thank you, shovel44, for being so legit. And for bringing together my two favorite useless websites to provide me with some interdisciplinary procrastination. Actually, now that I’ve wasted your time on UTB, it’s multidisciplinary procrastination. Fabulous.
