$450 Could Buy 40 Meals In Commons!

Yesterday we received an e-mail that made us angry. Sent by the dubious-sounding Go-Girl Finance people, an invitation to attend a seminar series entitled "Empowering College Women: Welcome to the Real World" popped up in our inbox. The first two-and-a-half hour session was called "Help! I Need a Job!" So we thought, "OMG. Yes, we would love to one day be employed!" The panel was even going to be moderated by a Whartonite! (For while we hate Wharton, we love Penn connections. Plus one.) The second session promised that two important-sounding chicks who work at important-sounding companies would teach us about personal finance, which we know nothing about. It all seemed so...empowering!

But then we saw that it would cost us $450 to attend the combined five-hour series, in which one of the sessions was devoted to being jobless. To that we say: Dear Wharton, You're the worst! Smooches, UTB.
