The Yogurt Wars Continue!

While we once complained about the scarcity of good frozen yogurt in Penn's hood, savvy shops started offering good quality fro-yo west of the Schuylkill this Spring. Sorry to say it, Marathon and Saxby's, but it looks like you may be kicked out of the running for best West Philly local yogurt come August.

A little birdie told us a fancy new frozen yogurt haven called Sprinkles is opening at 3606 Chestnut. The franchise, which is locally owned, has already opened shop in Cherry Hill and is set to have locations in some other Philly 'burbs. From what we gather, Sprinkles is a Phileo-style spot, meaning it'll be self-serve, with scores of flavors and toppings to mix and match. According to Sprinkles' website, flavors will include staples like "Pure Vanilla," "Original Tart" and "Cookies and Cream," as well as quirkier flavors like "Rootbeer Float," "Bubble Gum" and "Original Eggnog." And yes, there are sugar-free varieties as well.

Mouth watering yet? There's good news: we placed an inquiry with the Sprinkles HQ regarding the opening date and we were pleased to hear things should be up and running "in about five weeks," which we calculate to be just in time for NSO 2009.
