Fashionistas, Take Note

Forget last fall’s struggle to fill the tents at New York's Bryant Park or L.A.’s inevitable second-row status, Philadelphia is the latest city to host its own fashion week. The three-day event debuts at the 23rd Street Armory in Center City on October 8th.

Don't get too excited though: we're doubtful that Anna or Karl (Wintour or Lagerfeld, that is) will be gracing Philly. Instead, the show appears to be recessionista-inspired, featuring "student, streetwear and contemporary couture designers based locally and around the globe."

NYC-based Gar-de and Love Brigade, as well as Philly menswear local Commonwealth Proper, will be some of the designers sending models down the Philadelphia runways. Yeah...we've haven't heard of them either. Where's Tory Burch and Stacey Bendet when you need them (besides Vanity Fair's Best Dressed list)?

No word yet on what DZine2Show intends to do for the city-wide fashion week. While Penn isn't currently listed as one of the participating universities, we're pretty sure Dzine will scheme up something for the event — complete with confusing self-promotion.

The event’s site promises celebs and socialites (Michael Vick, anyone?), so some Center City stalking may be in order. Tickets go on sale tomorrow on the event's site at philadelphiafashionweek.org.
