Biden Delivers a Disappointingly Blunder Free Grad Speech

biden_obama

As you may recall, Vice President Joe Biden was set to give the commencement speech for the School of Social Policy and Practice on Monday - and he did just that, delivering a speech that touched on many powerful themes and received a standing ovation.

According to Richard J. Gelles, the school's dean, Biden was chosen not just because his daughter was receiving her master's degree, but because of his involvement in so much important social justice legislation throughout his political career. Biden stated that belief in ambitious ideals is the major "fuel" for change, which seems appropriate for the audience he was addressing.

What made this speech sort of disappointing, though, was that it was altogether without any of the hilarious snafus that make Biden such an entertaining and enjoyable VP. Maybe he was on high alert and trying not to embarrass his daughter, or maybe he was so personally invested in his speech's subject matter, but don't you think it would've been awesome for Penn to be ground zero for a new, classic Joe-ment?

Here's a fantastic video (set to stunning music) of some of his best-worst moments. (Siiigh) Maybe next time.
