Go See Some Fancy Cats This Weekend

It's hard to ignore the cat craze phenomenon currently sweeping the nation; from youtube to tumblr to your one friend who's taken it upon herself to become a cat lady because all of a sudden it's haute couture, felines are totally dominating.
In apt continuation of said craze, the Global Egyptian Mau Society (GEMS) is hosting an event titled "Precious Stones," which is really just a euphemism for "come watch a bunch of cats meow in a smelly room while we pick the prettiest one" (is anybody else getting déjà vu?). The event, which is this Saturday and being held at the Philadelphia National Guard Armory, is kind of a trek, but it's not so bad if you think about it like a mini vacation. One with cats. And crazy cat people. And souvenirs--according to the flyer, there will be kittens for sale. To that, we say: me-owesome.
