Penn Profs Create Invisibility Cloak

A team of Penn engineers who solemnly swear that they're up to no good recently found a way to use a technology called plasmonic cloaking to create destructive interference, translation for "We just invented an invisibility cloak."

Magic? There's no such thing. But we aren't quite understanding researcher Pengyu Fan's science-speak version, either:

"We found that a carefully engineered gold shell dramatically alters the optical response of the silicon nanowire... Light absorption in the wire drops slightly...but the scattering of light drops by 100 times due to the cloaking effect, becoming invisible."

Sounds positively Riddikulus to us.
