A Day For You, Dr. King

Jesse Franklin Monday, Jan. 21, 2013Mon, Jan 21, 2013

Today we observe the great accomplishments of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. He got you out of class for the day(!), so take some time to reflect on the great things he did for our country.

Penn's Annual MLK Symposium will begin with breakfast in Houston Hall, followed by a speech from Department of English professor Herman Beavers. Volunteers at the event will go to local schools to clean up and paint, followed by a candlelight vigil held at Du Bois College House at 7 p.m. Dr. King audited classes in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences from 1949-1951. He would have turned 84 this year. Buttons up to you, Dr. King.
