Six Degrees of Amy Gutmann

bloghasselhoffspongebob

We know that you're probably tired of all of the comparisons between our beloved President and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson: their charisma, their elegance, and their warmth. However, despite popular belief, there's been no documented meeting between these two in the Chasing Amy archives, so it couldn't have possibly happened. Dr. Will Smith's six degrees of separation is a theory that says everyone in the world is connected by six or fewer introductions, or something like that.  Join us after the jump as we explore how these two socialites are connected (in a very spiritual sense of the word).

1. Charlie Rose

Our journey begins here. As previously mentioned, President G appeared on Chuck's show to discuss her instant literary classic, The Spirit of Compromise.

2. Dennis Hopper

You might know him from the 1993 Super Mario Bros film, but you may be surprised to find out that this menace has also appeared in roles other than King Koopa. You can peep him probably not speaking English in the 2008 Elegy, with our boy Charlie Rose making a cameo.

3. David "The Hoff" Hasselhoff

Definitely still relevant cultural icon Mr. Hoff appeared in a 1998 mockumentary, Welcome to Hollywood, with Hopper.  We haven't seen this masterpiece, but the plethora of adoring reviews made us rush to add this to our Netflix queue.

4. SpongeBob SquarePants

Must we elaborate on this one? We all remember when the the tearjerking 2004 SpongeBob SquarePants Movie made us reconsider our existence, learn to love, and dare to dream.  Not only did our favorite poriferan give the performance of his life, but it's nearly impossible to forget the outrage when The Hoff was snubbed at the Oscars despite his career-defining cameo.

5. LeBron James

Not one, not two, not three, not four degrees of separation from our beloved Ms. Gutmann, BronBron and S-Bob are known to kick it from time to time. He almost appeared on SpongeRobert's show, only to have Patchy the Pirate completely screw up the negotiations, despite concentrating in management during his time at Wharton.

6. Dwaney Boy

So this may not have been the most effective way to get Amy connected with our igneous friend, but the strong affinity of Penn students for WWE means that we all watched as LeBron hosted The Rock's birthday bash.  So there you have it, President to shirtless lifts in six easy steps.
