Valentine's Day Doesn't Have to Suck

Sure, right now feels like a bad time of year. It's cold af, today is Friday the 13th, Spring Break and fake St. Patrick's are still a month away, and we have to deal with endless anti-Valentine's day sentiments. But hey, everything will be okay! Valentine's Day in reality is nothing but a social construct, and you don't need an external holiday (created in its modern form by greeting card companies) to make you feel good about yourself! If nothing else, UTB loves you, and wants you to remember that Valentine's Day doesn't have to be all bad. So chill out on the Cupid hating, and read on after the jump to find out why there are still reasons for you to be happy this weekend:

-Pink and red are universally flattering colors

-Drake released an unexpected new mixtape last night

-Half-priced candy is right around the corner

-If you think about it, it's really nobody's business what your Valentine's Day plans are! So don't feel pressure.

-St. Valentine himself never found love, because he was martyred for offending Emperor Claudius in 269. That probably will never happen to you!

-It was actually kind of sunny today

-Sneaking wine into the Rave is pretty easy

-Love exists in many forms!

-Chipotle is on campus too, and doesn't pander to a bizarre exchange of burritos for kisses

-We're nearing the end of winter!

-There's no shame in getting drunk tomorrow and blasting this

-Dogs!

-People in relationships are going to be at nice dinners in Center City, so GrubHub will be faster, and if you're at a nice dinner then you get to eat a nice dinner! Everyone is happy.

-If you're still at a loss about what you should even be doing tomorrow, we can help!

So this Valentine's Day, just remember that nothing is actually that bad about VDay. Chances are good it won't even matter by Monday. Have a good one, friends. <3 <3
