If Nothing Matters, Then Why Am I So Important?

They say nothing matters. They say our values, beliefs, even our existence is useless. They say we are nothing because we mean nothing.

Well first of all, who the fuck is they?

And second of all, they forgot one little thing that does matter: me.

Every single day, I wake up to texts, snapchats, retweets, and dm's that let me know just how important I am. Everyone everywhere always wants to know what I’m doing, how I’m doing, and who I’m doing.

I am the reason why people wake up smiling. I am the reason why people keep on pushing. I am the reason why people love life.

Maybe what we’re doing here doesn’t matter. Maybe all these tests, quizzes, essays, and group projects won’t actually amount to anything. Maybe these diets, exercises, and super smoothies aren’t doing much.

But that doesn’t mean I don’t matter. Because I do. Very much so. Ask anyone. My parents, my professors, my friends, even the Halal guy tells me that I am important.

I don’t know a lot. I don’t even know how I got to Penn. But what I do know is that I am important. Important? Me. Me? Important. Important is synonymous with me and I am synonymous with important.

Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
