Calling All Cyclists

While you may see the occasional kid biking from their off-campus digs, Penn is not a particularly bike-friendly campus, due in large part to Locust's no-bike policy. In fact, Philly in general is not especially kind to bikers. This, however, is about to change.

Starting Labor Day, the city will be implementing a pilot program that dedicates one lane of both Spruce and Pine to cyclists. This is a Center City project, stretching from the Schuylkill to the Delaware River, so Penn won't be directly impacted. While some are worried about the effect this will have on traffic congestion as vehicular traffic will be reduced to one lane on these streets, others are lauding the project as eco-conscious and long overdue. And we're guessing Bike Church devotees are loving this.

What do you think? Will you be biking through Center City come NSO? Let us know in the comments.
