Did you know that West Philadelphia was the first "streetcar suburb?" Or that the Lenape tribe once settled in the area? Worry not, apparently no one did.
According to a Penn press release, the history of West Philly is largely untold — something Penn students are trying to change. An academically-based community service class in the College has put together the West Philadelphia Community Center website, a virtual online history of the 'hood. Call it more Penntrification of sorts, but the site is pretty legit. We feel that the Fresh Prince would approve.
