Flo Rida is back in the news this week for his insidious plot to claim ownership of University of Pennsylvania land rightly belonging to the indigenous Lehapanoke tribe. Rida has historically been criticized for insensitivity toward Native American issues, even referencing “apple bottom jeans, and boots with the fur” in a way that some interpret as a show of support for colonial exploitation of Indigenous animals and resources. Now, the disgraced rapper has taken it a step further.

Rida announced on Friday his intentions to claim the Lehapanoke land under Penn Park in a political statement/song he calls ‘My House’. The song also features instances of cultural appropriation (Mi casa es tu casa, so it ain't no holding back) and references to alcoholism (Another shot of vodka, you know what's in my glass). “We can’t let our students hear this goyslop”, says Penn President Larry J. Jameson, “their non-colonizing ears are too pure.”

Protests are expected at the Spring Fling celebration where Rida intends to make his statement. Needless to say, it will be ‘Going Down for Real’ this Saturday.
