Make Baboon Metaphysics Officially The Weirdest Book Title Ever

(02/24/09 8:01pm)

Who doesn't love Professors Robert Seyfarth and Dorothy Cheney, (excluding people studying for Tuesday's Animal Behavior midterm)? Not only are they adorable because they're married and teach together, but they do all their research together, too. And their research is on baboons. And they know all their baboon subjects by name, sight, and call.

Debra Messing Is At Pod

(11/04/08 12:49am)

As a fan of Will and Grace (the first four seasons, not the sogged-down-with-celebrities second half), my life actually just reached its pinnacle upon learning that Grace Adler herself, Debra Messing, is currently dining at Pod. She's the woman with the wine glass emphatically raising her arm at the man in the gray shirt. Turns out she's in town for Governor Rendell's event for Obama.

Penn To Dartmouth: Our Chad Hangs Lower Than Yours

(10/27/08 7:45pm)

The UA sent out an email this morning notifying Penn students that the universitywill be throwing down against Dartmouth to see which school will have the higher voter turnout next Tuesday. Apparently, the point of this duel is to "show the student body at Dartmouth College why Penn rocks and why they went to the wrong Ivy League school." Since New Hampshire is only worth 4 electoral votes and Pennsylvania is worth 21, it would appear that they did in fact go to the wrong school in terms of swing state-age. Politically-aware burn!

The One Show You Must Watch This Week

(10/27/08 6:54pm)

I would have said the one show you must watch is the Mad Men season finale, but let's be honest, you were all watching the Phillies destroy the Rays last night. (Sidenote: Joe Blanton hitting a homerun is the World Series equivalent of those rec soccer games when one team was winning 14-0 so they let the goalie out onto the field... and even he scored.) So until you can catch a rerun, you must be satisfied with clips from Jon Hamm's guest stint on SNL, like Don Draper's Guide to Picking Up Women.

Meet J.K. Rowling, Die Happy

(10/21/08 12:39am)

A la Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Scholastic is offering five Harry Potter fans the chance to fly to Edinburgh, Scotland, to have tea with J.K. Rowling. The blessed event will be on Dec. 4, the day The Tales of Beedle the Bard is released. (If you don't know what that is, don't bother entering the contest.) All you have to do is write a 200-word essay about how you help people. Oh, and be between the ages of 8-17.
