Palin's Bid for Primetime

Until this year, I'd been down on Saturday Night Live for a number of reasons (to name a few: it's lost its edge, the people on aren't funny or memorable, the writing hasn't been that original, all the big names up and left...). But the reintroduction of Tina Fey earlier this fall gave the show a new spark it desperately needed (a spark, if you recall, that was enough to make me overlook Michael Phelps' terrible job as host). A spark that seemed like it would never burn out and would result in ratings gold.

But now, I fear Lorne Michaels may have opened Pandora's Box with this one. And it has nothing to do with Tina Fey (rest assured, this blog's love for her is eternal). No, ladies and gentlemen, I just heard that Sarah Palin is going to be on SNL this Saturday.

Aside from the obvious issues (will this be anything like Hillary Clinton's appearance alongside Amy Poehler? Because two Sarah Palins on one screen might be too much to handle), I can't help but wonder Palin fares on the show. I expected her to crash and burn, but the more I think about it, I imagine pageantry comes in handy for this sort of thing.

In any event, tune in to NBC this Saturday night at 11:30 for what promises to be either the biggest trainwreck on TV or the most convincing proof that Sarah Palin might be a capable human being (and if that's not enough incentive, Adele is the musical guest this weekend!)
