How To Strike Out On Your Own

rocky06

As you know, the SEPTA Strike is underway. This means fewer near-death experiences in the bus lane, but it also means that getting around is a huge pain in the feet, or in the wallet if you're relying on cabs. We've done some research to find SEPTA alternatives that will keep you on your merry way. Check out the list after the jump.

1. LUCY, which stands for Loop Through University City (?), is a bus that stops all around the neighborhood. It's free for students (show your Penn Card), and runs frequently. An interactive map of LUCY's two loops is available on ucityphila.org.

2. Penn Transit is a wildly underutilized way to get around campus and the city at night. According to the website, "If you're on-campus, Penn Transit can take you West, North, or East of campus between 6pm and 7am. We offer both Penn Bus and Penn Shuttle services from our 14 Transit Stops and Pickup Points." You can also take the Penn Bus or a shuttle from off-campus. For more information about that, check out the website.

3. Turns out that bike of yours can get you to more places than just pretzel shops! It can get you all over Philadelphia. As part of Bike the Strike, The Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia will be on the NW Corner of City Hall with a bike parking corral and a bike repair station, every day from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. for the remainder of the strike.

4. Feet. Ever heard of 'em?
