Sneak Some Turkey Into The Theater When You See These Films

mrfox

Somewhere in between the sweet potato pie, the parade, and the pilgrims, Street Film hopes you have the chance to make at least one trip to your local movie theater. This year’s slate of Thanksgiving films has something for everyone, and we’ve even made it easy for you by previewing a few of them. Sure New Moon and 2012 are still around, but you check out our guide to find out what you should really be seeing.

Fantastic Mr. Fox - Wes Anderson enters the world of stop-motion animation in this eagerly awaited adaptation of the classic kids book, and he brings the voices of George Clooney and Meryl Strep with him. Wes, Meryl AND puppets? We’re sold.

The Road - Cormac McCarthy’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel finally hits the big screen, and none of the apocalyptic craziness is lost in the transition. Viggo Mortensen and Charlize Theron headline a stellar cast navigating through what’s left of civilization.

Planet 51 - What looks like your typical CGI family flick is oh-so-much more, with a tricky plot (a human astronaut invades alien suburbia), superstar voices (Jessica Biel, anyone?) and not-so-subtle references to anal sex. You might want to leave the little ones behind, or just not go at all.

Red Cliff - We all have our own favorite parts of Thanksgiving: turkey, football, cranberry sauce, sprawling Chinese war epics… okay, that last one might not be exactly holiday appropriate, but it never hurts to branch out, right?

Bad Lieutenant: Port Call of New Orleans - Nicolas Cage gets serious as a badass cop with a serious narcotics issue. Somewhere between hallucinations and scenes with girlfriend Eva Mendes, there’s a plot revolving around a troubled Senegalese family, but we know it’s all about Cage in the end.
