Hamilton Auditions In Philly

Are you a really talented actor, rapper, or dancer? Are you obsessed with the upcoming Commencement speaker Lin-Manuel Miranda? Do you really just want to knock that annoying girl in your econ class, who thinks she is the shit since she got an internship at Goldman, down a peg? Well then this is your chance: Hamilton is hosting auditions in Philly. Nothing will get you more Instagram likes, easy access to Smokes, party invites, oh and actual success in your future than a role in this Broadway hit.

Wanna know if you would make cut? Just a heads up: bonus points to people who are in their 20s-30s, and not white (#Hamiltonnotsowhite). Here are some descriptions of the roles the casting team are seeking (Ed Note: these are actual descriptions from the Hamilton casting crew):

ALEXANDER HAMILTON: Non-white, 30s, Tenor-Baritone. An earnest, ambitious hothead, a man possessed. Speaks his mind, no matter the cost. Must be able to rap VERY well. Eminem meets Sweeney Todd.

ANGELICA SCHUYLER: Non-white, 20s-30s, Mezzo - Soprano, MUST be able to sing and rap well. Fierce, dazzling, brilliant, can read a room and everyone in it instantly. Deeply in love with Hamilton, who is married to her beloved sister Eliza. Nicki Minaj meets Desiree Armfeldt.

GEORGE WASHINGTON: Non-white, 30s-40s, Tenor/Baritone, sings and raps in equal measure. Authoritative, regal, aloof, aware of his place in history at all times. John Legend meets Mufasa.

ENSEMBLE DANCERS: Male and female, age 19 to early 30s. All ethnicities, emphasis on non-white. Amazing dancers, versatile in all forms of contemporary dance. Must also sing very well and be able to portray various characters in the ensemble.

So don’t throw away your shot people! Go out and be the John Legend/Mufasa hybrid you know truly are. If that doesn’t convince you, do this cool thing: write about how this changed your life in a letter about living authentically to freshmen.
