Pro/Con/Pro: Eating At Restaurants With Health Violations

Harvest recently joined Chipotle on the list of beloved yet germ-ridden eating establishments on campus, and we know how tough that's been for everyone. What is to be done? Do we just jump ship to Qdoba/City Tap? What of loyalty and second chances? It's a tough one, which is why we've laid out the most salient arguments here for you. Take heart and hang in there.

RT: Ok, you might get food poisoning but isn’t college about living on the edge? What happened to carpe diem?

MM: NO. Why would I pay Chipotle for the possibility of getting E. Coli? That shit is serious. Also Harvest got 22 health violations. 22!! I’m sure this is not what Taylor Swift had in mind.

RT:  Well, you might eat for free! When Chipotle gave us those free burritos (honestly so sweet), it showed how sincere they were in their apology. You gotta respect that.

MM:  The meal may be free, but I would have to spend a fortune in therapy to get over the trauma of bloody diarrhea - one of the many symptoms of an E. coli infection.

RT:  True - but isn’t that price worth it if you think about what a massively explosive story that would make? It would bring you so far in the one-up game- “Dude, you passed out after the party on Friday? I spent my whole weekend passing out from intense abdominal pain.”

MM:  Well if someone wants to risk getting food poisoning just to show off to their friends, then they most definitely need a reality check.

RT: Probably, but at the very least they won’t be eating at Penn Dining which, let’s be serious, can be way, way, way worse.
