Take THAT, Patriarchy! I (a Girl) Won the Harrison Bracket Challenge

My friends say I am a “straight chiller," but this was perhaps the biggest test of my lifetime. I know the truth. It might be a hard pill to swallow...but I’m willing to. I know their motives. I know it all.

Oh, you want me to sign up for the Harrison March Madness Bracket Challenge?? Why is that?? Is it because I am A GIRL?? Yes. I know it is.

You think you can beat me just because I have longer hair than you? Well you’d be wrong. I have very short hair.

What they DON’T know is that I was actually captain of my high school basketball team. Sure, it was a JV team, but that’s only because we didn’t have a varsity team. Didn’t you notice that I am approximately 10 feet tall (5’10”)?? Obviously I played basketball.

ALSO, I bet you never considered that I went to the Women’s Final Four 2012 when it was in Denver! Featuring Baylor, Stanford, Notre Dame, and UConn, it will go down in history as one of the most important events to ever be held in the Pepsi Center.

AND WHY WAS I THERE YOU ASK??

I. AM. A. UCONN. FAN.

UConn… UConn… UConn... why does that ring a bell?

OH THAT’S RIGHT. THESE MEN WON THE TOURNAMENT THIS YEAR.

So given that I am so passionate about them, obviously I had them going to the final in my bracket. Did I have them win the final? No. But I still won.

Moral of the story: girl can do bracket, and girl can win bracket, and girl can get an awesome basketball hoop as a reward.
